EC: MELSEC iQ-R Programmable Automation Controller
Machine & Embedded Control — PLCs, PACs, industrial PCs: The MELSEC iQ-R PAC is Mitsubishi Electric’s revolutionary controller that delivers significant enhancements in the area of machine performance, engineering ease of use, maintenance simplicity, sophisticated security, and quality. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Finalist.
The MELSEC iQ-R programmable automation controller (PAC) CPU has high performance capabilities because of a high-speed system bus architecture and 0.98ns logic execution speed which is ideal for applications requiring sophisticated coordinated motion. CC-Link IE Field is leveraged as the 1GB industrial Ethernet single network architecture between controller and other automation components like servo amplifiers, robots and graphical operator terminals. In addition, the MELSEC iQ-R CPUs are designed for specific application requirements such as sequence with safety, motion, robot, and others. The MELSEC iQ-R CPU has inter-modular synchronization to ensure the best processing accuracy.
Particular attention has been paid to engineering ease of use. GX Works3 software has a graphical user interface that allows systems components to be selected and configured. Sequence, safety and motion control programming and debugging are accomplished using the intuitive structured project environment which conforms to the IEC 61131-3 standard. All motion module parameters, position data and servo amplifier configuration can be done within GX Works3. GX Works3 has native multi-language support.
MELSEC iQ-R CPU reduces maintenance efforts and downtime. The platform modules have built-in fault detection and diagnostic functions. A new memory dump feature is designed to better improve root cause analysis by capturing blocks of relevant information. iQ-R CPU and GX Works3 provide superior diagnostics and event logging to enable even the novice user to troubleshoot the system.
MELSEC iQ-R CPU has a number of embedded features that help protect intellectual property and improve cyber security avoidance. Hardware and software keys protect intellectual property. The security key authentication prevents programs from being opened on personal computers where the security key has not been registered. An IP address filter can be used to register the IP addresses of devices permitted to access the CPU, thereby lowering the risk of program hacking and unauthorized access by a third party.
