Industrial Ethernet module from Ixxat Automation GmbH is said to enable fast, low-cost connection of devices using Ethernet Powerlink, EtherNet/IP, and Profinet protocols. It is based on an Altera-FPGA and contains CPU (NIOS II), Ethernet controller, and integrated 2-port hub which is routed over an RJ45 connector. Relevant protocol software for the implementation of an Ethernet Powerlink controlled node, Profinet device, or EtherNet/IP adapters is on the module. A host-API in C-source code is supplied with the module to enable communication of the application CPU with the module via its interfaces.
