3M (St. Paul, Minn.) announced July 5 that its Optical Systems Division has purchased Vancouver-based Dynapro, which designs and manufactures touch products. 3M bought all of 24-year-old Dynapro's products, including its touchscreen components, touch computers, terminals, monitors, all intellectual property, trademarks, and related assets.
3M (St. Paul, Minn.) announced July 5 that its Optical Systems Division has purchased Vancouver-based Dynapro, which designs and manufactures touch products. 3M bought all of 24-year-old Dynapro’s products, including its touchscreen components, touch computers, terminals, monitors, all intellectual property, trademarks, and related assets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Dynapro provides an excellent platform for us to enter the touch panel marketplace,” says Andy Wong, 3M Optical Systems’ division vp. “This acquisition allows us to combine 3M’s expertise in technology innovation and light management with Dynapro’s talented workforce and experience in this market.”
3M will retain all but a few of Dynapro’s 275 employees worldwide. Dr. Karl Brackhaus, Dynapro’s president, ceo, and co-founder, will transfer ownership of all Dynapro assets and intellectual property to 3M. The transition is expected to last nine months. Dr. Brackhaus will remain in a consulting capacity during this phase-in period.
