The first combined ” electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference ” (ESC), held at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center (March 29 to April 1, 2004) is history. This high-tech show of product exhibits, multiple conferences, and technology classes, drew approximately 13,000 visitors and 430 exhibitors from 45 countries. Show statistics reflect 30% growth in attendance and 50% in exhibitors over ESC 2003. The rest of the items in the embedded control section of this newsletter provide more coverage of the show.
Incorporation of the “electronica” component of the show added to its international flavor. Embedded Systems Conference, in its 16th edition, continued to be the core of the event. Three other technical conferences—Power Electronics Conference, Communications Design Conference, and Emerging Technologies Forum—complemented the show’s expanded format.
ESC’s program included 132 technology classes, of which 63 were new and 58 were updated. Presented by 75 industry experts, the classes focus on the latest trends, tools, and design methodologies of embedded systems. Real-time operation and embedded Linux capabilities were among this year’s “hot topics.”
The next electronicaUSA/ESC is scheduled for March 7-10, 2005, again in San Francisco, CA.
