This year’s event will feature more than 100 exhibitors, 49 technical sessions, and more than 20 hands-on laboratory exhibits. The company reports that AB Automation Fair is North America’s premier event for sharing automation knowledge aimed at driving manufacturing productivity. The two-day event also features special tracks to explore key issues and solutions in numerous vertical industries, including automotive, life sciences, food and beverage, packaging and material handling, and water/wastewater.
In addition, Rockwell is showing more than 40 of its own products, solutions, and services at this week’s event. Some of the most significant include:
Controllers
-
Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 1769-L35CR and 1769-L32C
End-users and OEMs seeking flexible machine control in a compact, space-saving package have new options the form of two new Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controllers. CompactLogix 1769-L35CR and 1769-L32C controllers offer integrated ControlNet network connectivity, which eliminates the need for modular communications, simplifies programming and cuts installation and configuration costs. -
Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1100
The new MicroLogix 1100 family of controllers reportedly is small, but powerful. Available in March 2005, the controllers will feature online editing functionality, an embedded high-speed counter, high-speed PTO/PWM output, embedded analog, embedded LCD for I/O and controller status, and a simple operator interface for messages and bit/integer input. -
Allen-Bradley RS-232/DF1 port splitters
The new port splitter is an interface converter device that will provide a low-cost method for expanding (or splitting) a single RS-232/DF1 port on a Rockwell Automation PLC into two RS-232/DF1 ports for communication with two external devices at the same time. This will benefit network applications that require one port for a local HMI for monitoring and adjusting data, plus a second port for network messaging and remote data collection. -
Allen-Bradley SLC 5/05 10/100 Mbps enhancements
New 10/100 Mbps enhancements to the Allen-Bradley SLC 5/05 provide more connection capability (up to 64 connections with the L553) and faster throughput (100 Mbps). Upgrades to the SLC 5/05 series of web-enabled EtherNet/IP controllers offer enhanced system performance and connectivity, allowing these popular controllers to be used in large or high-throughput systems. The Ethernet port on all Series C SLC 5/05 controllers has been upgraded from 10 Mbps to 10/100 Mbps. The physical connection is via the same RJ-45 connector used on earlier 5/05 controllers. Series C SLC 5/05 controllers also support more Ethernet connections than previous versions. The 16K 1747-L551 now supports 32 connections, while the 32K 1747-L552 supports 48 connections, and the 64K 1747-L553 supports 64 connections. -
Allen-Bradley 1747-SDN enhancements
New 1747-SDN enhancements include autoconfiguration, allowing users to configure a simple DeviceNet network without using RSNetWorx.
