American Electric Power (AEP) has chosen Visual KPI software for a pilot test of a new key performance indicator (KPI) program. Running from May through fall 2006, the program is designed to deliver critical performance data to two main groups of AEP management.
The first group, operating management, monitors plant operations, generating levels, and external factors, such as RTO prices. The second group, IT staff, oversees AEP’s networks and other computing resources. The intent of the new system is to provide information as quickly as possible regardless of location.
“Whether employees are in the office, away from their desktops in a meeting, or at home, this pilot program is bringing key information to their fingertips when they’re not sitting in front of their computer,” explains Kevin Stogran, AEP’s manager of market operations support. Since AEP delivers electricity to 5 million customers in 11 states, ability to distribute the information over a huge area is paramount.
Visual KPI is a web application that enables users in the process and utility industries to create and distribute real-time KPIs for instant use by anyone in the organization or supply chain. This provides the fastest possible notification of business sensitive information.
Transpara Corp. of Pleasanton, CA is the provider of Visual KPI.
