Arista, ACP partner to market thin-client computers

Arista Corp. and Automation Control Products (ACP) are partnering to market a family of industrial thin-client computers.

HMI Express family of thin-client computers from Arista Corp. and ACP are suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

Arista Corp . and Automation Control Products (ACP) are partnering to market a family of industrial thin-client computers. HMI Express includes both screenless brick-sized mountable clients and industrial panel thin-client computers with 6.4, 8.4, 10.4, 12.1 and 15-in. LCDs. Applications include automotive manufacturing, chemical processing, food and beverage processing and packaging, metals processing, machine control, and oil and gas refinement.

Thin-client computers operate on a mainframe concept. All instructions and sessions come from a central, secure server. Each thin client operates independently from the others. With no moving parts, the line is suitable for harsh environments that require the benefits of a thin client and standard Microsoft Windows user interface without the expense of a special enclosure. No data are lost should a local thin client be damaged or experience a local power failure.

HMI Express has a 300 MHz National Semiconductor Geode processor and can run any thin-client application. Thin clients come standard with one RS-485 and two or three RS-232 serial ports. Low power requirements and voltages (5 and 12 dc) simplify hazardous area compliance. Operating temperatures range from 32 °F to 122 °F (0 °C to 50 °C). Pricing begins at $654 in North America.
