Germantown, WI –So more people can learn about automation and electrical interconnect products, Wago Corp. added a second vehicle to its “Innovation in Automation Tour” mobile marketing program. The company’s IIAT initiative, launched to educate and interact with customers across North America, has gained popularity, according to Wago, as costs associated with sending personnel to tradeshows have grown exponentially. Wago products include terminal block systems, connectors, components, industrial Ethernet, and other automation. Information on a Profinet product follows.
“Vehicle 2 will allow us to better serve the industry as both vehicles will be concurrently touring the U.S. and Canada,” says Wago’s marketing manager, Dean Norton. “Sending company personnel to tradeshows has become an expensive proposition for customers, but now Wago has two tradeshows going directly to them.” The identical vehicles are custom showcases that present the same interactive features as the company’s tradeshow booths, which include “pick-up and play” product panels, electronic kiosks, samples, literature, and software.
“The vehicle often arrives to lines of associates,” continues Norton, “ranging from maintenance to CEOs, waiting to take a tour. It’s been a great way for personnel at all levels to gain valuable one-on-one time with our experts. We’ve received requests for return visits because this is a cost-effective way to expose entire organizations to leading automation trends and information.”
So far, vehicle 1 has traveled 39,000 miles to visit approximately 3,200 people across the lower 48 states and Canada. The company expects vehicle 2 to address requests for additional stops, return visits, and the ability to have an IIAT Vehicle present for customer events. Wago’s Website provides more information on IIAT vehicles, a virtual 360-degree tour, and schedules.
Among company products is the Wago Profinet 750-340 series bus-coupler (link to PDF), designed to be used as local or distributed I/O on a Profinet industrial Ethernet network. The product is in accordance with the Profinet RT specification V 2.01 and includes features such as, automatic configuration, 10/100 Mbs data rate, and supports HTTP, BootP, DHCP, DNS, SNTP, FTP, SNMP, and SMTP for system management and diagnostics. Housed in a modular, compact (2-in wide x 2.56-in. high x 3.94-in. long), DIN rail mount design, it is said to reduce costs associated with traditional rack based PLC I/O. Furthermore, compatibility with all 750 and 753 Series I/O modules offers access to over 200 digital, analog, and special function I/O modules and ensures connectivity to virtually all signal types. The company also supports the following industrial Ethernet networks: EtherNet/IP, Modbus/TCP, Modbus/UDP, Ethernet TCP/IP, with Ethernet Powerlink and SERCOS III in development.
