ABB claims industry’s most compact VFD
ABB introduced OEMs and system integrators to the most compact and slimmest motor drive in ABB’s component drive range. The small-horsepower model ACS55 variable frequency drive is rated from 0.25 to 3 horsepower.
New Berlin, WI — ABB introduced OEMs and system integrators to the most compact and slimmest motor drive in the company’s component drive range. The small-horsepower model ACS55 variable frequency drive is rated from 0.25 to 3 horsepower.
The company says the component drive was designed as an entry level product for new users, and is aimed at exercise training equipment, gate control, pumps, fans, conveyors, packaging machines, x-ray screening machines, material handling, ovens, powered roof ventilators and heat exchangers, according to Michael Mikolajczak, product line manager for ABB’s component, machinery and general-purpose drive lines. “The drives are particularly suited for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who manufacture special machines in high volumes,” he continues. He also says simplicity of installation is the result of a descriptive interface, compact and slim design, a removable mounting clip, and an optional feature called the DriveConfig kit.
The optional DriveConfig kit is a PC-based tool for volume manufacturing that offers fast and safe configuration of drives with no power to the drives required. It enables parameter setting and software updating without the need for a power connection. The company says drives can, in fact, remain in their delivery boxes during configuration.
