Benchmark Electronics adds systems integration capacity in Asia

Benchmark Electronics Inc. plans to expand its contract manufacturing capacity in Asia by adding a third manufacturing facility in Thailand to meet increased demand for its system integration services.

Benchmark Electronics Inc . plans to expand its contract manufacturing capacity in Asia by adding a third manufacturing facility in Thailand to meet increased demand for its system integration services. The company will open its new manufacturing operation in a leased facility in Ayudhava, which is 30 miles north of Bangkok Airport. This new operation will be located in the same industrial park as the firm’s existing site in Ayudhava, and will include 60,000 sq ft of system integration manufacturing space.

Benchmark expects its new facility will be operational by the end of 2005’s first quarter. The company presently operates 17 facilities worldwide, including four in Asia. The company adds that its Asian facilities include one in Korat, Thailand, which opened in 2004’s third quarter.

Benchmark manufactures electronic products, and provides its services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of computers and related products for business enterprises, medical devices, industrial control equipment, testing and instrumentation products, and telecommunication equipment.
