The enhanced functionality will provide connectivity between RS PMX MES and the company’s FactoryTalk Integrator, permitting manufacturers to transmit data to or from multiple plant or business applications such as ERP, document management systems, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Formerly, connectivity between RS PMX MES software and other systems required point-to-point configuration that then required further integration effort. With connectivity to FactoryTalk Integrator, manufacturers will be able to integrate plant-floor applications with higher-level business systems.
“The connectivity of RS PMX MES to FactoryTalk Integrator is part of our multi-release, long-term strategy to help life sciences companies simplify the integration of information,” said Bob Honor, vice president, Life Sciences, Rockwell Automation. “These enhancements reflect our commitment to ongoing investment in our RS PMX software applications for life sciences companies, including new capabilities designed to help deliver tighter integration, greater visibility and a more efficient operation.”
FactoryTalk Integrator will help to feed common types of information for an MES system, such as work orders, schedules, or recipes, directly from ERP systems. With robust and expandable architecture, manufacturers can move data to or from multiple plant systems, whether Rockwell Automation-based or other systems. Users can share data with a number of applications or destinations at one time. FactoryTalk Integrator simplifies integration with corporate IT systems by supporting open industry communications such as XML, BSMML, and J2EE, as well as linkages to commonly used ERP applications like SAP, Oracle, and PeopleSoft. It supports FactoryTalk Services Platform, which leverages IT assets and standards for increased business flexibility and faster deployment.
