Norcross, GA— To provide mission-critical performance and reliability for a variety of applications, Cirronet Inc. recently began shipping developers’ kits for its low-cost WIT2450 2.4GHz OEM module, which is its newest module for product design engineers. General product availability is targeted for September 2004. Cirronet manufactures wireless transceivers and broadband Internet products.

Cirronet’s wireless industrial transceiver (WIT) OEM modules reportedly provide fast, robust, and secure communications in many settings. Like all of the firm’s wireless industrial products, WIT2450 2.4GHz module features Cirronet’s patented frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology, which delivers critical data in environments ordinarily considered too hostile for radio communications. WIT modules are deployed worldwide in factory automation, supervisory control and data automation (SCADA), medical telemetry, mining vehicle control, and fleet management applications.

WIT2450 provides the same 460.8kbps data rate and performance as the WIT2410, Cirronet’s industry leading module for mission-critical applications, and adds a 250mW transmit power to 10 mW and 100mW levels.

‘The WIT2450 offers the unique combination of low-cost, highly integrated components with Cirronet’s high-performance, high reliability MAC and RF know-how at a price that will enable development of a wide variety of price-sensitive applications,’ said Tim Cutler, Cirronet’s marketing VP. ‘Product design engineers no longer need to settle for less reliable solutions due to cost constraints.’

WIT modules are FCC certified to operate in the license-exempt 900MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. WIT2410, WIT2450, WIT2411 and WIT5811 are also CE marked for European and world-wide use. Designs that incorporate the modules need not repeat type approval.
