SR-61 collision sensor is the latest addition to the line of collision protection devices from ATI Industrial Automation. It reportedly has a lower operating range for increased sensitivity in applications using 3-5 kg capacity robots and is designed to prevent damage to robotic end-effectors caused by robot crashes. Features include rotational and axial motion, high repeatability, energy absorption, rugged design, consistent breakaway points, automatic reset, dynamically variable trip points, and quick-response crash detection. Sensor has flexible mounting surfaces: threaded or through-hole patterns that reduce stack height of the tooling and sensor assembly. A 3-wire PNP proximity switch set to actuate within 0.020-in. of axial motion is intended to ensure reliable switch performance. www.ati-ia.com ATI Industrial Automation
