Danfoss A/S, Denmark’s largest industrial group with an annual turnover of 14 billion Danish Kroner (U.S. $2 billion), acquired Bauer Antriebstechnik GmbH (Esslingen and Munich, Germany) on June 1. A longtime Danfoss supplier, Bauer develops electric gearmotors. In 1997, Bauer launched its gearmotor program, Bauer 2000, which integrates Danfoss’ VLT frequency converters. Bauer, which is being renamed Danfoss Gearmotors Division, employs 950 people and maintains sales operations in Europe and North America. Products from the new gearmotors division will enhance Danfoss’ six existing ranges of frequency converters and its VLT Drivemotor.
