Airborne data acquisition and recording system from Heim Data Systems Inc . features adaptable signal interfacing and interchangeable media cartridges to provide a flexible avionics data acquisition and recording platform in a compact package. D7000 has a rugged mechanical design for harsh environments. External dimensions and configurable connector interfaces are designed to allow direct replacement of legacy video and data recorders.

Recording/reproducing system offers up to 256 Mbits/s total system data rate. Containment of media in interchangeable cartridges lets a user quickly choose and load either rugged hard drive or solid-state media at any time during the life of the equipment. Packet recording system is intended to ensure accurate data time tagging and consistent channel-to-channel phase relationships.Series includes an integral IRIG (Inter Range Instrumentation Group) time code generator for synchronizing to external IRIG and GPS time sources to provide sustained high accuracy time tagging of recorded data. Users may also choose an option that fits the system with an integral GPS receiver, integrating time reception, distribution, and data time tagging into a single package. Media cartridge may also be fitted with an integrated clock that lets laboratory-based time references be automatically transferred to the recorder each time a cartridge is loaded.Systems are compatible with Heim Data format and the IRIG 106 Chapter 10 standard (see below), including a compliant IEEE-1394b data download interface on the media cartridge. Mainframe also has GigE data download capability and the media SCSI interface provides a high-speed output to other Heim Data download and analog replay systems fitted with media cartridge receivers.

Heim Data’s D20f and D200f systems now support IRIG 106 Chapter 10 telemetry standards.

In a related move, Heim Data also announced its D20f and D200f systems now support IRIG 106 Chapter 10 telemetry standards. Systems feature modular signal interfacing and interchangeable media cartridges to provide flexible, modular solutions for airborne and mobile applications. The airborne and ground mobile recorders’ support of the standard provides users with solutions to facilitate much needed data format and interface commonality for efficient data acquisition, distribution, and analysis, says the manufacturer.

The IRIG 106 Chapter 10 standard represents the culmination of several years’ effort by the Range Commanders Council, manufacturers, and users to formulate a new standard for solid-state flight recorders. The standard provides a well-defined control and download interface and supports requirements for inter-vendor playback of data for software-based de-commutation systems and hardware-based telemetry systems. According to Heim Data, the new interface standard is expected to lead to a revolution in the way airborne telemetry data are captured, recorded, analyzed, and distributed by standardizing the digital data-recording directory and data format for solid-state media.
