EC: APAX-5580
Machine & Embedded Control - PACs, PLCs: The industry’s first modular DIN-rail IPC designed for integrating operational and information technology. This is a Control Engineering 2016 Engineers’ Choice finalist.
The APAX-5580 DIN-Rail IPC is the industry’s first modular IPC. It is particularly designed for integrating operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) to take advantage of the trend in Industry 4.0.
The APAX-5580 includes an Intel Celeron 1.6GHz/Core i3/Core i7 1.7GHz processor, 4GB DDR3 memory, two GbE ports, one RS-232/485/422 port, one mSATA connector, two SD slots, two mini PCIe slots, dual power input and UPS support and a 10-year lifetime RTC battery.
The APAX-5580 is a total modular system which can help developers build a system to suit their exact needs without complicating their system infrastructure and it also reduces the amount to effort to configure. Besides, with its hot swappable design, all the modules can be swapped in and out without interrupting the operation of the IPC which can simplify maintenance and troubleshooting time.
The APAX-5580 can easily connect to other third party industrial devices. With integrated supporting modules, the APAX-5580 can connect to COM and CANbus devices and with Advantech’s APAX-5430 SATA module, the addition of another SATA SSD/HDD drive is allowed, in addition to the one that comes with the APAX-5580, to allow a RAID 0/1 configuration. Advantech’s iDoor modules allow users to add a whole host of additional functions, such as Fieldbus, to suit the specific connection or information needs from customers. Furthermore, the APAX-5340 battery module allows continued operation for up to 2 hours in the event of a power failure.
By having partnered with CODESYS, the APAX-5580 is able to provide a whole host of extra functions such as real-time Ethernet protocol and programming by IEC61131-3, using target visualization via a connected screen and/or the web visualization on remote devices via a web browser, thereby enabling controllers to configure and operate using a Web server via the intranet or Internet.
