EC: FR-A800 Plus for Cranes and Hoists, a VFD
Motion Control — Drives, motor control centers: FR-A800 Plus Series of variable frequency drives are application specific drives combined with software specific functions providing 3-phase ac motor solutions for cranes, hoists, and other lifting applications. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Finalist.
Mitsubishi Electric’s FR-A800 Series of variable frequency drives (VFDs) has been expanded to include a new collection of application-specific drive units that combine industry specific functions and the latest available drive technology. The FR-A800 Plus for Cranes is a solution developed and introduced to address the rapidly increasing requirements of the material handling industry. This new range of industry specific VFDs is poised to enhance, simplify and optimize the control of 3-phase ac motors that are used with cranes, hoists, and other lifting applications.
The FR-A800 Plus for Cranes offers a wealth of hoisting specific features including anti-sway suppression algorithms that improve safety, performance, and handling of suspended loads while reducing cycle times and unnecessary mechanical wear from lifting large loads. System tuning and system response can be adjusted on the fly and optimized through an array of proportional and integral gain settings that enable users to dial-in the best possible machine response and performance. Torque, speed, and even mechanical brake controls can be managed and optimized to achieve the best possible performance from the mechanical system response.
The FR-A800 Plus for Cranes supports a wide variety of expansion options including I/O (digital and analog), encoder feedback (incremental and absolute) and an extensive selection of network communications, including Industrial Fieldbus and Ethernet based protocols.
