Elo introduces flat profile touchscreens, rear-mount touchmonitors

A range of Super Flat Profile (SFP) touchscreens and two 17-in. LCD rear-mount touchmonitors are among the latest offerings from Elo TouchSystems Inc., a business unit of Tyco Electronics.

IntelliTouch SFP touchscreens from Elo TouchSystems feature the company’s patented grating technology for a true flat front surface and narrower borders around the active touch-sensitive area.

A range of Super Flat Profile (SFP) touchscreens and two 17-in. LCD rear-mount touchmonitors are among the latest offerings from Elo TouchSystems Inc. , a business unit of Tyco Electronics. The SFP devices extend the company’s IntelliTouch pure glass surface wave touch technology. IntelliTouch SFP touchscreens use the company’s patented grating technology to achieve a flat front surface that smoothes the bumps of integration, provide narrower borders around the active touch-sensitive area, and include a new flat-cabling system. Features help the touchscreen fit into higher form factors than before, increasing its suitability for use in industrial control rooms, as well as medical image management, retail, finance, and gaming markets. Sensing transducers are mounted on the back of the glass to make the touchscreen flat and easier to integrate.

LCD rear-mount touchmonitors from Elo TouchSystems use clear glass Intellitouch surface wave touch technology and feature a choice of touch technologies.

Surface wave touch technology offers a variety of benefits. Touch can be initiated with a finger, stylus, or gloved hand; multiple touches are not averaged; operation is not subject to false touches from vibration; and a new touch can be distinguished even when other touches are present on the screen. These products include a “Z” axis for pressure in addition to standard “X” and “Y” axes, can be sealed watertight, and feature glass substrate that is resistant to dirt, contaminants, and common cleaning fluids.

LCD rear-mount devices include the 1749L featuring a wide viewing angle panel and the 1746L with a lower spec panel. Both use IntelliTouch surface wave touch technology. The two products have identical form factors, differing only in panel specification. Both have an injection-molded minibezel with a watertight seal for industrial automation applications. Elo also offers a family of chassis touchmonitors that feature a choice of touch technologies.
