Faster unloading: System integrator melds vision, robotics

London, Ontario, Canada –Using off-the-shelf machine vision components and a Motoman robotic arm, the Autoflex Loader from JMP Engineerin g provides an economical solution to common labor issues. The product offers manufacturers a cost effective solution to maximize the value of their plant labor related to bin unloading, says JMP, a privately owned industrial system integration company.

Autoflex Loader, now available in to U.S. customers after prior introduction in Canada, was demonstrated at the International Robots and Vision (IRV) Show in Rosemont, IL, June 12-14, 2007. Motoman ‘s MotoSight 3D vision package used in the AutoFlex Loader cell utilizes vision components from Shafi Inc. and Cognex .

“Customers have experienced immediate benefits with the loader,” says Ken McLaughlin, director of flexible manufacturing solutions at JMP Engineering. “It has a low initial capital investment and offers flexibility for future line changes, which has been very attractive to Tier 1 suppliers competing in this global automotive market.”
