Freescale Technology Forum debuts
The first annual Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) combined previous Freescale Semiconductor developer events—such as Smart Networks Developer Forum and last year’s Embedded Connectivity Summit—with other technology expertise from Freescale and its partner companies into an informative four-day user event in Orlando, FL, June 20-23.
Numerous hands-on product demonstrations made the forum’s interactive Technology Lab a popular spot for show attendees.
The first annual Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) combined previous Freescale Semiconductor developer events—such as Smart Networks Developer Forum and last year’s Embedded Connectivity Summit—with other technology expertise from Freescale and its partner companies into an informative four-day user event in Orlando, FL, June 20-23. Forum seminars followed a six-track format: automotive, industrial control, networking, wireless, software and tools, and consumer electronics.
Some 1,500 attendees (customers, partners, and industry experts) and 70 sponsor companies gathered at FTF 2005 to partake in 400 hours of technical training, view hundreds of technology demonstrations, and hear panel discussions and presentations from industry leaders. Main sponsors of the forum included Future Electronics , Green Hills Software , MontaVista Software , QNX Software Systems , and Wind River Systems .
Michel Mayer, chairman of the board and CEO of Freescale, gave the keynote address, discussing his company’s role as a key player and technology innovator “in the ongoing global revolution to combine intelligence with connectivity.” Mayer’s keynote also highlighted the company’s performance achievements during its first year as an independent, publicly traded company and its continued commitment to develop embedded technologies—in particular for increasing connectivity among mobile devices.
Among the show’s highlights was an interactive Technology Lab that ran during selected time periods. The 29,000-sq ft venue featured more than 200 demonstrations of products from Freescale and its Alliance Partners in a hands-on laboratory environment.
