Global agreement on PAT solution for the life sciences industry

GE Fanuc Automation and Symbion Systems announced an exclusive global agreement to deliver comprehensive process analytical technology (PAT) solutions worldwide. PAT is a system for designing, analyzing and controlling manufacturing through timely measurements of critical quality and performance attributes of raw and in-process materials. The goal of PAT is to ensure final product quality. “This exclusive agreement will allow GE Fanuc to extend our already proven capabilities in delivering best-in-class solutions to Life Science customers,” said Larry Ambrose, global director of Life Sciences for GE Fanuc Automation.

Symbion Systems brings a wealth of knowledge of the process and Life Sciences industries and a deep understanding of analytical instrumentation and process analysis software. Combined with GE Fanuc’s proven automation record, end-to-end solutions that deliver connectivity, quality and productivity, and large installed base in the Life Sciences industry, the solution becomes even more powerful.

“As GE Fanuc further develops solutions based on the Symbion technology, we will be integrating them into the Proficy platform extending the capabilities of Proficy Historian with new data models and visualization tools specifically for the pharmaceutical industry,” Ambrose continued.

Together, GE Fanuc and Symbion Systems will assist organizations wanting to deploy a PAT solution aimed at process understanding through:

  • Standardized control and networking of multiple instruments;

  • Preprocessing of captured analytical data;

  • Robust plant data archiving;

  • Extensive methods development;

  • Interfaces to commercially-available chemometrics packages; and

  • Designed for 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance
