Heliodyne develops new controller for solar water heating system

Remote management of units possible using the Rabbit RCM5450W core module for network connectivity and intelligent control.

The controller is one of the most important components of asolar water heating system.ions) systems, its controllers could only provide basic control

functions such as an on/off switch, timers, and resisters that react to

temperature readings to turn on/off a relay.

In light of this limited control functionality and a burgeoninginterest in solar water heaters, Heliodyne decided to engineer a more advancedcontrol to provide greater functionality and enable the development of morecomplex heating systems. As part of this new system, Heliodyne selected theRabbit RCM5450W core module for network connectivity and intelligentcontrol.servers via the Internet.

Once customers connect the Heliodyne systems to theirnetworks via Wi-Fi, the systems can then collect and send data back toHeliodyne’s server for remote access to monitor performance and make anynecessary changes.

The remote monitoring functionality is also a key benefit toinstallers and utilities.
