Bakersfield, CA —ProLinx wireless gateways from ProSoft Technology enables the connection of various Profibus field devices and allows data sharing between devices.
ProSoft Wireless Protocol (PWP) is said to allow data sharing “over-the-air” in a high-performance, secure way between industrial networks and protocols. ProLinx 6000 uses the PWP technology to allow heterogeneous networks to share process and status data wirelessly. The module contains an internal database with areas for application data, status information, and configuration information. It is shared between all application ports and acts as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one device or several on another. The database also acts as an access firewall.
The gateway functions as a client to meet the needs of demanding industrial applications, including for moving equipment such as rotating turntables, drums, and ship turrets; in places where running cable is not feasible or is physically impossible; where wired systems are cost prohibitive; and for joining or connecting to dissimilar networks.
