IFS, the global enterprise applications company, today announced that IFS Enterprise Explorer (IEE) is Windows 7 ready. Available with IFS Applications 7.5, the IEE user interface has been designed specifically to increase the usability of IFS Applications. Now Enterprise customers can further benefit from integration with many core features from the Windows 7 operating system, IFS said Dec. 9.
Microsoft Windows 7 has been designed with improved usability in mind to make everyday tasks quick and simple. Its new features such as Jump Lists and Federated Search give users fast access to the business-critical information and functionality on IFS Applications.
"As business operations get increasingly complex, the IT applications and systems that support it need to do the exact opposite-become easier to use and help simplify the process of collecting and accessing business information," IFS Chief Technology Officer Dan Matthews said. "Making the user experience as familiar and intuitive as possible is paramount to encouraging staff from all technical backgrounds to contribute to business systems."
IFS launched IEE earlier this year having identified a need for better-designed enterprise applications that are as engaging, collaborative and intuitive as familiar web applications.
"Enterprise applications are hugely powerful and yet are only as good as the information that resides within them," Matthews said. "IFS Enterprise Explorer represents a big step in improving our customers’ user experience, and Windows 7 does the same for Microsoft. Where some applications want to be the desktop, we want IFS Applications to be a well-integrated part of the desktop-something that can be used by anyone."
IFS is a top 100 Microsoft Global ISV partner, IFS says. IFS is a public company (OMX STO: IFS) founded in 1983 that develops, supplies, and implements IFS Applications, what it describes as a fully-integrated, component-based extended ERP suite built on SOA technology. Industries include aerospace & defense, utilities & telecom, manufacturing, process industries, and automotive, among others. IFS has 2,700 employees and net revenue in 2008 was $383 million, the company said.
