Chicago – “Break it up” is not going to mean quit fighting as robots slug it out in a daily competition that starts Sept. 8.

Robots will do battle daily as Synergy Robotics Entertainment will offer two ways to experience the thrills of robot combat (see photos) when International Manufacturing Technology Show, IMTS 2008 , comes to Chicago’s McCormick Place, Sept. 8-13, 2008.Attendees can sign up to compete or watch peers go head to head in live robot combat action.Each 20-minute show will feature a mini-round robin competition between four audience drivers followed by a brief awards ceremony.Sign up alone or as a group and get ready to prove your skills in the arena at Lakeside Center (East Building), Booth D-4375.Power Demonstrations are at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. IMTS revs up The Manufacturing Business & Technology Forum presents five days of sessions, papers, interactive presentations, and debates on the latest technology found on the IMTS exhibit floor. The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) presents 37 sessions at the Forum. Daily theme days take center stage at the new Innovation Center.Industry leaders from automotive, aerospace, quality control, power generation, medical, and job shop manufacturing speak daily at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Lakeside Center (East) Booth D-4168.
