Intergraph adds piping design software firm to its stable

Huntsville, AL —Spatial information management software firm Intergraph Corp . has acquired Alias Ltd ., a provider of piping design automation software. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Alias had been an Intergraph OEM partner since 1993.

The purchase of the UK-based company is expected to give Intergraph’s process, power, and marine division complementary critical piping technology and enhanced expertise in deliverables automation. Alias’ flagship product, Isogen, provides automatic piping isometric drawing generation capability to 3-D plant design and shipbuilding software users. Other products include I-Sketch for the individual generation of isometrics, Spoolgen for the generation of fabrication spool drawings, and I-Route for the automatic routing of pipes within a 3-D model based on cost-optimization techniques.
