New York, NY— Iconics announced at Interphex 2004 that it has formed a technology partnership to support of Saflink’s Biometric Identity Assurance Management software within Iconics’ Genesis32 automation suite. Iconics (Booth #2735) is a leader in web-enabled, OPC-based human-machine interface (HMI)/supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and manufacturing intelligence visualization software for Microsoft Windows operating systems. Interphex is being held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Integrating biometrics authentication with Iconics’ HMI/SCADA automation suite provides maximum security for user identification, and makes Genesis32 a more robust and secure HMI/SCADA system for regulated applications. Saflink’s Identity Assurance authentication has been deeply integrated with the Iconics’ Security Server architecture. This new level of integration gives Iconics’ users the option of using biometrics for operator authentication. This is important because identity assurance is needed to meet business security requirements, as well as increased government regulations, such as those of the FDA, which protect public health, safety and privacy.

‘Iconics is dedicated to providing the best, most secure solutions for regulated industries, such as the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industries,’ says Russ Agrusa, Iconics president and CEO. ‘Incorporating support for Saflink’s Identity Assurance technology allows our customers to use multiple biometric devices in applications requiring user authentication.’

With help from Biometric Identity Assurance, companies can comply with the FDA’s regulations and legislation, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA, and help ensure plant safety, workflow enforcement, and protection of intellectual property. ‘Saflink views Iconics as a leading, independent, HMI/SCADA software supplier, with a strong customer base and an excellent brand,’ says Glenn Argenbright, Saflink’s president and CEO. ‘We believe that our combined solution will not only help increase security and aid compliance with Iconics’ present customers, but it will also help attract new ones. We look forward to working with Iconics on future manufacturing and building control applications where Biometric Identity Assurance is a must.’

Iconics adds that Biometric Identity Assurance is a critical component for industrial security. Anyone seeking to comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, 178/2002/EU traceability, and/or the Bioterrorism Act should incorporate guidelines that include the use of biometric authentication.
