Tustin, CA — Kuka Controls , a developer of real-time operating system software, announced its designation as a Wind River Platform Partner. Partnership status identifies Kuka as a key provider of device software optimization (DSO) solutions for real-time applications that integrate seamlessly with Wind River products. Wind River selectively reviews and appoints only those companies whose solutions are proven compatible with Wind River products, provide superior technical advantages to the end user and are supported effectively in the worldwide market.
Kuka’s software-only technology enables the coexistence of Microsoft Windows XP and a real-time operating system (RTOS) on a single computer system without either inhibiting the functionality or performance of either operating system or modifying either OS. The determinism and response of the RTOS is preserved under all circumstances. This coexistence increases overall system performance and reliability while reducing the power and space requirements. In many applications, Kuka’s extensions eliminate the cost of additional graphics/visualization hardware. Kuka’s VxWin adds a high-end graphical interface and connectivity—including printing—of Windows XP to Wind River VxWorks. Additionally, VxWin adds real-time ability to Windows XP utilizing VxWorks. The end user can also use many Windows applications with the real-time system.
Developers benefit from: the elimination of the cost of creating a separate dedicated user-interface, the use of familiar development tools, and the security of a solution proven in over 70,000 applications.
