Irvine, CA— To help it focus on core businesses, Lantronix Inc. joined with Hilscher North America Inc. (Warrenville, IL) on June 23 to provide network-enabling technology to the industrial communications market. As part of the partnership, Lantronix will discontinue offering Hilscher’s designed and -manufactured products, and Hilscher will reassume all sales and support responsibility for them. Hilscher North America is a subsidiary of Germany-based Hilscher GmbH.
Lantronix began offering Hilscher’s products in October 2001 as part of its acquisition of the former Synergetic Micro Systems. Given their combined expertise in industrial automation, the two companies say their new arrangement will enhance overall customer satisfaction and increase long-term business opportunities.
‘Turning over the sales and support of these products to Hilscher is one of the many steps we have taken to simplify our business. This action helps increase our focus on providing market-leading device management and remote access technology, while our partnership leverages the combined expertise of Hilscher’s product and Lantronix technology leadership,’ says Marc Nussbaum, Lantronix’s president and CEO.
Further terms of the partnership call on Lantronix to develop new embedded technology that will be used in several Hilscher offerings. In the future, Hilscher will handle sales, technical support, order fulfillment, warranty and inventory for its products. Lantronix’s revenue from Hilscher’s products averaged approximately $500,000 per quarter in its 2003 fiscal year.
‘This partnership is a win-win for both companies and our customers due to the efficiencies that are gained across Hilscher and Lantronix,’ says Philip Marshall, Hilscher North America’s COO. ‘Hilscher is committed to offering the highest standard of customer service and support through this transition period and beyond.’
