Magnetek buys Mondel Engineering

MagneTek Inc. announced Jan. 18 that it acquired Mondel Engineering Ltd. (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) in a cash transaction. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Mondel’s specialized motion-control products represent an extension of the ESI industrial drives line acquired in July 1999 by MagneTek, one of North America’s largest suppliers of ac drives and accessories. As a “bolt-on” acquisition, Mondel expands MagneTek’s ESI offerings to the North American crane and hoist industry. MagneTek develops and manufactures power conversion and control products for electronic equipment, lighting, and electric motor speed control. Its primary markets include building construction and modernization, telecommunications, industrial motion control, and information processing.
