Three miniature servo drives from Elmo Motion Control Inc. support up to 2,400W and achieve high power density coupled with SimplIQ intelligence. By integrating fast and soft switching power management technology with thermal management technology, the Whistle exhibits a power density of 35 Watts/cm3, which enables it to achieve more than 99% efficiency in small package, says the company.
The SimplIQ digital core embedded into the drive offers a broad range of functionality and flexibility,y including motion control capabilities, programming, communication protocol support, and power capabilities. Additionally, the Whistle supports a wide range of position and velocity feedback options such as digital halls, incremental, encoder, resolver, tachometer, and position potentiometer.
Its small size allows the drive to be mounted near the axis or directly into the application configuration and its pin-based design enables direct integration into the application’s printed circuit board. Integrators and machine builders can implement the drive into their application, reduce the need for adding external components, and decrease the amount of cabinet space and cables, according to the company.
