Multivariable DSP improves Emerson’s transmitters

Boulder, CO— To improve process consistency and maximize uptime, Emerson Process Management has made its Micro Motion Series 3000 transmitters more powerful by adding Micro Motion’s patented MVD technology. This front-end, multivariable digital signal processing (DSP) redefines Series 3000’s electronics and enables Coriolis flowmeters and Emerson’s PlantWeb digital plant architecture to work smarter and reduce costs.

Emerson reports that adding MVD technology improves measurement performance by delivering clean, noise-free, stable signals that represent multiple measured variables, and these measurements enable improved process consistency. Contributing to the predictive capabilities of PlantWeb, this more intelligent technology and built-in smart diagnostics of the transmitter enables problems to be identified and resolved more easily. It also provides two to four times faster response than analog devices.

Micro Motion Series 3000 appeals to many applications because it combines Coriolis transmitter functions and programmable logic controller (PLC) capabilities in one instrument. This open architecture transmitter provides highly accurate Coriolis flow, density and temperature measurement in a single device. For added convenience in configuration and programming, Series 3000 has full communication capability via HART and Modbus protocols. Series 3000 transmitters also feature:

Discrete process control for batch applications;

Six configurable outputs and four inputs;

Advanced density measurement for % HFCS °Brix;

°Plato, °Balling, °Baume and more;

Custody transfer security;

Intuitive person-process interface; and

Field-mount and rack-mount versions

By adding Micro Motion MVD to Series 3000, Micro Motion’s Coriolis capabilities help power Emerson’s PlantWeb to improve manufacturing quality through superior measurements that enhance consistency.
