Here are some educational opportunities specifically directed at those in the process industries. Included are information about a web seminar series, a process control network security seminar, and a conference for those in the life sciences industries. MOST (MTL Open System Technologies) is offering a new on-line, web seminar series for the process industry. Programs on the docket for the summer include “Boiler Control” and “Industrial Ethernet: A Path to High Availability.” The first, scheduled for July 20 and August 10, will outline the advantages of control system advances for improving boiler efficiency in the face of rising fuel costs. The second, scheduled for August 17, looks at how using industrial Ethernet and a few select redundant components can yield a reliable, cost effective solution. Other upcoming seminar topics include “Introduction to SIL Systems—A Cost Effective Approach to Safety,” and “Optimizing Gas Plant Performance with Advanced Control Algorithms.”

For those involved in process control network security, Decisive Analytics Corp . offers a two-tiered training seminar on reducing cyber-security vulnerabilities. “System security engineering and efficiently safeguarding your business,” will be held September 8-19 at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel in Columbia, MD. It includes both executive and technical tracks.

For those involved in the life sciences industries, ISPE (the Society for Life Sciences Professionals) will hold its annual meeting October 24-28 in San Antonio, TX. Conference will address trends and challenges in global markets and feature FDA executives among its keynote speakers. Tabletop exhibits and an educational program are included.
