The new Brooks Model 4800 Series mass flow meters and controllers combine broad measurement range, fast response time and compact size for critical gas flow control applications. Series units feature micro electro-mechanical thermal sensors, which reportedly respond very quickly since they can be inserted in the process stream where gas can flow directly across the sensor surface.
The company uses the same sensor technology in the Model 4850 mass flow controller. Here, it is combined with a proprietary PID algorithm to optimize control valve response. Brooks says this results in fast settling times and a quick matching of setpoint, even in dynamic operating conditions.
These mass flow meters can be used with a wide variety of process gasses, including air, N 2 , O 2 , Ar, He, H 2 , CO 2 , CO, N 2 O, CH 4 , CH 3 H 6 , and C 3 H 8 . Brooks instruments are supported by Emerson and its network of field sales and technical support staff.
