Siemens acquires Bewator

Solna, Sweden —Siemens AG has an agreement to acquire Bewator AB from the Swedish private equity group, EQT. Bewator is a European supplier of products and systems for access control solutions.

Founded in the 1970s, Bewator claims to hold a strong position in its core access control business, particularly in Scandinavia and the U.K. For 2005, Bewator estimated sales of approximately SEK500 million (some $62.8 million, ca December 22) with some 300 employees. It has subsidiaries in Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, U.K., Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Bewator’s distribution network and significant partner relationships in major international markets were a prime interest of Siemens.

Siemens will establish Bewator as a Centre of Competence for access control products.
