Thermocouples are the best temperature sensor in every application. Right?

Are they? How do you handle your temperature measurement needs? What types of devices do you use, and are you satisfied with the performance? Take our quick survey.

The statement in the headline is my deliberate attempt to be provocative, but Control Engineering has published many articles about process instrumentation, and it seems that users are more passionate about temperature sensors than any other type of device. Temperature-related articles typically draw more comments than discussions of level sensors or flowmeters.

So let’s ask the question directly, what types of sensors do you use the most? Are you satisfied with the performance? Do you want to use something else?

Take our temperature device survey.

The survey will only take a few minutes. (If you don’t want to include your actual name or company, make something up, but be truthful in your other comments.)
