More flexible electronics reduce what’s required in stock by meeting a wider array of applications with fewer parts. For instance, Falcon Electric Inc . says that its SUP Series is the world’s first universal input, low-cost line-interactive UPS. It also features unique LCD screen and advanced two-stage battery charger. It’s available in 700 VA and 1 kVA models. The unit can accept a 120 V ac through 230 V ac input and provide a fixed 120 V ac output. List prices are $449 for 700 VA and $599 for 1 kVA models.
In contrast to simple LED lights, a user-friendly, front-panel LCD display gives detailed UPS and power information without having to access monitoring software or connect a monitoring computer. The LCD shows more than 20 operating parameters and provides explanations. An advanced two-stage battery charger is said to provide fast, safe battery recharging and longer battery life. It produces a sinewave form to critical equipment. This sinewave power can extend the overall life of power supply components. Many line-interactive UPSs produce square or step-wave forms. A Buck and Boost Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) function allows wide input voltage range without draining the battery. All models include a free version of UPSilon 2000 advanced shutdown and monitoring software that supports Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2000 Server, XP, Linux, Novell Netware 5 & 6, Unix, FreeBSD and other operating systems. All models are 7.9 (H) x 7.1 (W) x 14.2 (D) in. Weights are 35 lb for the 700 VA model, and 40 lb for the 1k VA version.
