Wireless SmartPack Starter Kit unveiled by Emerson Process Management at its Global Users Exchange in October is a configurable suite of wireless technologies and services intended to give users a risk-free way to experience wireless technologies in their own facilities. The package comes pre-configured to form a secure, robust self-organizing wireless network that users can apply without committing their infrastructure. SmartPack comes with a 1420 wireless gateway, a 25-tag license for AMS Device Manager software, Emerson-supplied SmartStart installation services, and 5 wireless instruments that operate as a self-organizing network. Users may choose any combination of Rosemount temperature, pressure, level, and flow devices, and can increase the number of devices in their SmartPack up to 100.
