Hydraulic system flow meter for precise regulation and control
AW-Lake, flow instrumentation manufacturer, has added the HM-U Hydraulic System Flow Meter to its family of products designed for the hydraulic industry. This cost-effective and versatile turbine-style flow meter measures hydraulic fluids for precise regulation and control of flow rates in hydraulic systems. It is optimized for hydraulic performance applications and ideal for components such as pumps, valves, and fittings. The HM-U Hydraulic System Flow Meter performs in temperatures ranges from -40°F (140°C) to 248°F (120°C) and offers accuracy of ±0.5% M.V. over full range with 30cP fluid. Two integrated quarter inch BSPP connections allow users to install their own temperature and/or pressure transmitters for optional measurement.
LoRaWAN Wireless Pressure Transmitter
SignalFire Wireless Telemetry, a leading manufacturer of industrial wireless telemetry products, will offer its Pressure Scout Intrinsically Safe Wireless Pressure Sensor with the LoRaWAN wireless protocol in June 2024. By connecting to LoRaWAN networks, the Pressure Scout can wirelessly monitor assets in hazardous or general-purpose environments. The Pressure Scout will initially monitor in general purpose areas before expanding its capabilities to Class 1 Division 1 hazardous locations by Fall of 2024. Based on the field proven Pressure Scout, this version with LoRaWAN protocol will address the challenges of monitoring pressure over wide areas by offering a range of up to 15 miles (24 km). The pressure transmitter will offer battery life of up to ten years and measure pressure from vacuum to 20,000 psi (1360 kPa).
TRICOR Coriolis Flow Meters
AW-Lake’s TRICOR Coriolis Flow Meters are being used to verify that accurate amounts of fiberglass resin are dispensed during the fabrication of panels which are molded for doors and windows of motor homes and RV trailers. During the manufacturing process, fixed-ratio pumps are used to dispense a specified ratio of resin to catalyst to ensure accurate curing of the molded panels. Without a verification method, production lines were forced to stop when pumps were not on ratio, resulting in downtime and lost yields. AW-Lake worked with the OEM and the PLC integrator to solve the off-ratio issue. The solution is our TRICOR Coriolis Flow Meter.
Flow Monitor Helps National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration to Measure Ocean Salt Content
AW-Lake is supplying flow monitors to the with National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for use on its research vessels as part of a process to measure the temperature and salt content of the world’s oceans. NOAA previously was unaware when a pump clogged when taking in salt water as part of its measuring process. Different types of sea plankton and natural sea water debris congested the pump, creating inaccurate sea water readings. An AW-Lake MX 9000 Process Monitor not only tracked the amount of sea water flowing into the pump, but integrated output into the ship’s data-gathering computer. The monitor was calibrated to trigger an alarm onboard the ship if water flow rate dropped below a specific level. “Whether it’s out on the open ocean or the open road, our products are helping different industries measure and monitor flow rates,” stated AW-Lake General Manager Mark Iverson.
Portable Flow Meter for On-Demand Pipe Flow Measurement
AW-Lake offers a new Portable Transit Time Ultrasonic Flow Meter in addition to the full-sized clamp-on version that provides non-contacting flow measurement for the most challenging industrial environments with minimal installation complexity and costs. The new Portable Ultrasonic meter was designed to be deployed easily to measure flow on demand, without difficult installations or process interruptions. The hand-held unit is encased in a rugged IP67 housing and works with the same 3 interchangeable transducers as the full-sized meter, which make it suitable for measurements on a wide range of metal and plastic pipe materials on pipes from ½- to 48-in.
