Best Power releases new double-conversion, three-phase UPS

Necedah, Wis.- Best Power recently introduced its Axxium TriStar, a new double-conversion, three-phase uninterruptible power system (10-40 kVA), designed to protect factory automation systems, midrange computers, and other equipment and systems. Called the industry leading UPS for energy efficiency and power factor correction, it also has ‘premium communication options, compact footprint, and easy mobility,’ the company says.

The modified input circuit reduces total input current harmonic distortion to less than 15%, saving the additional costs of harmonic filters and floor space. The advantage for the user is an operating efficiency as high as 94%, with an input power factor that can exceed 0.98. The units support a standard runtime using the internal batteries only. External battery cabinets are available for extended runtime capability.

Other benefits include no-break protection, static by-pass switch, high-efficiency mode, high overload rating, and a regulated output frequency, as expected in typical double conversion, three-phase products. The Axxium TriStar 10 & 15kVA models are now shipping; the 20, 30, and 40kVA models will be available in early 2000.

Axxium TriStar is the third member of the recently released Axxium family of double-conversion UPSs, which includes Axxium Rackmount (a 1-3 kVA rack or wallmount UPS), and Axxium Pro (a 3-18kVA scalable, modular system). Best Power is a unit of SPX Corp.
