Circonix Technologies LLC recently launched its latest system solution, ExtrusionPro, which was initially developed as a retrofit for existing extrusion process equipment. ExtrusionPro replaces legacy control systems, many of which are at least 30 years old, with new control hardware, software algorithms, and, most importantly, an open architecture. Circonex is a system integrator in the converting, film, and web conveyance industries.
The firm says ExtrusionPro’s most significant benefit is its reduced exposure to potential downtime, which is usually due to the failure of older equipment with obsolete components. Because it includes new control system technology, according to Circonex, ExtrusionPro reportedly provides a complete, reliable solution for extrusion applications.
Circonex adds that many older systems use proprietary control systems and customized hard-ware. ExtrusionPro uses off-the-shelf temperature controls, human machine interfaces (HMIs), PLCs, and computer topology, integrated specifically to each user’s equipment configuration, whether it’s cast film, sheet feed, or coating and laminating. Also, ExtrusionPro uses new profile-control algorithms, self-tuning temperature controls, and same-spot measurement techniques.
