Sydney, Australia— Citect and Toshiba International Corp. (Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia) expanded their existing 10-month-old cooperation agreement on Sept. 9 by signing a new joint venture agreement.
The firms state that they formed their joint venture to deliver fully integrated control systems featuring Toshiba’s new V-Series hybrid controllers and Citect’s SCADA software and integration services to process industries throughout Australia. The joint offering, which comprises hardware, software and services is expected to decrease ownership costs and provide customers with an open, robust, high-performance solution for critical automation applications.
Citect adds that market acceptance of the Toshiba-Citect joint venture already has been proven by the recent awarding of contracts exceeding $1.2 million in Australian dollars from several industry leaders, including Tomago Aluminum Co. and Incitec Ltd.
‘The Integrated DCS incorporates complementary products from both partners, resulting in unprecedented openness, flexibility and performance for the process control market. The business opportunities for this system are very exciting,’ says Kiyoshi Tamaki, Toshiba International’s managing director.
Warwick Porter, Incitec’s instrument/electrical engineer, adds that, ‘Incitec selected the Citect-Toshiba joint venture for its critical control application because it provides our company with a more flexible and competitive solution than our traditional DCS suppliers. We’ve also been impressed with the joint venture’s expertise, professionalism and commitment to our project.’
