Controllers add safety features

Allen-Bradley GuardPLC family has expanded to include two new controllers—the GuardPLC 1600 and 1800—programming software, and three I/O blocks that bring distributed I/O connections to safety applications. Placing I/O points closer to the application means shorter wiring runs, lower cost, and easier troubleshooting.

Placing I/O points closer to the application means shorter wiring runs, lower cost, and easier troubleshooting. The 1600 has 20 digital inputs and eight digital outputs. The 1800 has 24 digital inputs and eight digital outputs, plus eight analog outputs and two high-speed counters. Both models feature integrated four-port Ethernet switches. They communicate to their distributed I/O blocks and to each other on GuardPLC Ethernet, a 100 M-bit safety-rated network. www.ab.com
