Plano, TX—Datamatic announced Jan. 3 that its Firefly automatic meter reading device has been approved for use with Badger Meter Inc.'s Recordall meters and RTR registers in the water utility market.
Plano, TX— Datamatic announced Jan. 3 that its Firefly automatic meter-reading device has been approved for use with Badger Meter Inc.’s Recordall meters and RTR registers in the water utility market.
Both companies are reported to be industry pioneers. Founded in 1905, Badger Meter has an international reputation as a developer of utility and industrial flow measurement devices. In 1980, Datamatic was responsible for creating the electronic meter reading industry, when it designed and installed the first handheld, computer-based meter reading system.
‘Working with Datamatic is consistent with our strategy of connectivity,’ says Maritza Jackson, Badger’s business development ditector. ‘Integrating the Firefly with our meter will give our customers another high-value AMR option. We’ve had tremendous success with our AMR connectivity strategy of offering our customers a wide variety of AMR options.’
Scott Durham, Datamatic’s sales and marketing vp, adds that, ‘The connection to Firefly was put through extensive testing. Badger needed to know that the connection would meet their quality standards before they were willing to certify connectivity with their meter.
