Business Industrial Network has introduced Electrist, a new industrial software suite designed for Palm PDA operating systems. Electrical and electronic calculations in the software feature more than 90 formulas and variations, including Ohm’s Law, voltage, and current divider electrical calculation; resistor color code; inductance; capacitance; Delta/Wye conversion; and decibels. Electrist employs AWG, metric, custom conductor sizes, conductor voltage drop, and conductor size selection calculators.
Functionality includes: a voltage drop calculator capable of giving the drop over any length of conductor when given the length and AWG, metric, or user-custom size units; a conductor size selection calculator which, when given parameters such as current, length, and maximum voltage drop, will return the minimum size of conductor to do the job using amp ratings based on NEC Table 310-16.
Business Industrial Network software releases planned for the Palm PDA include:
Magnetist: electromagnetic and transformer calculations companion to Electrist;
Motorizer: motor hp, torque, and related calculations companion to Electrist;
RedMech: maintenance scheduling, tracking, and running cost of ownership;
RedFleet: integrated fleet management tools; and
Primary: computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
