Atlanta, GA— Siemens Energy & Automation and Goss International recently celebrated the installation of the 500,000th Masterdrives ac motion control (MC) and vector control (VC) drive that Siemens has distributed worldwide.
Goss designs and manufacturing web offset printing press and postpress systems, and has been a Siemens global partner and a Masterdrives user since the drives were introduced in 1997. Goss recently acquired Heidelberg Web Systems, making it one of the world’s largest web offset printing press suppliers.
To mark the occasion, Aubert Martin, Siemens E & A’s president, presented Jochen Meissner, Goss’ COO, with a commemorative plaque at Goss’s facility in Dover, NH. “We’ve enjoyed a true partnership with Goss, and we look forward to continuing being part of its success,” says Martin. “Masterdrives modularity, control accuracy, and reliability have helped Goss, machine builders, and end-users worldwide lower maintenance costs, reduce installation times, and increase reliability.”

“We’re pleased to be part of this celebration,” adds Meissner. “AC drives are a vital component in modern, shaft-less, web press systems. Siemens’ commitment to the print industry and to innovation has helped us to continuously extend our press technology leadership position. Our partnership extends around the world because Siemens has people, products, and services everywhere we do business.”
