Minneapolis, MN—To expand its offerings in pressure, force and other sensor areas, as well as add to its wireless capability, Honeywell announced Feb. 12 that its Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) unit is acquiring privately held Sensotec Inc. (Columbus, OH).
Minneapolis, MN— To expand its offerings in pressure, force and other sensor areas, as well as add to its wireless capability, Honeywell announced Feb. 12 that its Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) unit is acquiring privately held Sensotec Inc. (Columbus, OH). Though the transaction is subject to regulatory approval, Sensotec is expected to become part of Honeywell’s ACS Sensing and Control unit.
Sensotec supplies sensors for measuring pressure, torque, load, temperature, force, acceleration and displacement. These devices are used extensively in test and measurement applications in the automotive, oil and gas, aviation, semiconductor, industrial and medical industries. Founded in 1973, Sensotec’s more than 200 employees also produce telemetry/wireless radio-based systems for gathering, transmitting and receiving sensor data from rotating machinery. Sensotec’s other products include instrumentation and digital gauges.
‘Sensotec provides a strong fit with our existing portfolio of sensors businesses, and strengthens our product offerings in the high-growth pressure sensing segments,’ says Alan Wright, vp and gm of Honeywell’s Sensing and Control group. ‘With Sensotec’s complementary products and technologies, Honeywell will be able to accelerate the introduction of high-value products and solutions based on advanced sensors with embedded intelligence and communications capabil-ity.’
