Phoenix, Ariz.; Herdon, Va. —Honeywell and POMS Corp. agreed Dec. 9 to have Honeywell acquire the manufacturing execution system (MES) provider. Terms weren’t disclosed. POMS will become part of Honeywell’s Hi-Spec Solutions division.

Cambridge, Mass. —Aspen Technology Inc. announced Dec. 7 that it licensed its Enterprise Optimization software to Union Carbide Corp. The software, which combines Aspen’s Plantelligence manufacturing software with Aspen Supply Chain suite, will link real-time operations with Carbide’s enterprise resource planning systems. The firms are also planning a strategic alliance to offer a configured software solution to Carbide’s licensees.

Irvine, Calif. —Lantronix was selected Dec. 7 by Frost&Sullivan as the winner of the 1999 Industry Leadership Award for Ethernet Networking-Enabling Solutions. Lantronix produces products that enable Internet protocol connectivity over Ethernet and is developing transparent industrial WAN solutions.
