Industrial internet, robotics groups agree to liaison

The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and the Robot Revolution Initiative (RRI) have agreed to a liaison to maximize interoperability, portability, security, and privacy for the industrial internet.

The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and the Robot Revolution Initiative (RRI), a council dedicated to developing the robotics market, announced they have agreed to a liaison. Under the agreement, the IIC and RRI will work together to align efforts to maximize interoperability, portability, security, and privacy for the industrial internet.

Joint activities between the IIC and the RRI will include creating use cases and requirements for proposals for international standardization in the field of smart manufacturing, industrial security, and hosting periodic joint seminars.

"We look forward to working with RRI," said Dr. Richard Soley, IIC executive director. "This collaboration expands opportunities for IIC members with industry players focused on robotics for IIoT."

"By the industrial internet and IoT, manufacturing businesses will significantly accelerate optimization along with the vertical and horizontal integration, and product lifecycle," said Tomoaki Kubo, Secretary General of the Robot Revolution Initiative.

"Advances in robotics, artificial intelligence and analytics are accelerating wide-spread adoption of industrial IoT," said Wael William Diab, chair of IIC’s Liaison Working Group, IIC steering committee member and senior director at Huawei. "We look forward to collaborating with RRI and are delighted to present at the RRI International Symposium."
