Automated System Reduces Costs, Increases Productivity, Aids Compliance
ATLANTA – Dec. 2, 2009 – Infor, the leading provider of business software for mid-market customers, today announced a comprehensive document management solution that enables manufacturers on the System i Platform to reduce costs and errors, increase productivity and remain compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory requirements. Infor Document Management for System i, integrated with Infor’s System i-based ERP solutions, provides an easy way for customers to store and control access to documents, improving workflow, enabling quicker decision making and virtually eliminating errors caused by manual, paper-based processes.
Infor Document Management for System i has three components that help improve business operations for manufacturers. The core component of the solution is Intellichief, which enables companies to capture paper documents and manage them throughout business processes. The solution also features FastFax Servers, which fax or email documents directly from users’ desktops, and Formtastic Forms and Labels, which replace pre-printed forms with electronic documents.
"Filing cabinets are a thing of the past now that purchase orders, acknowledgments, invoices, shipping documents and more are electronic with Infor Document Management," said Marc St. George, director of IT, Smith & Wesson. "By integrating with our Infor ERP, Intellichief lets users retrieve documents from their computer screens, saving us large amounts of paper, postage, storage space, and a great deal of time."
Automating document management enables companies to further improve the bottom line by taking advantage of early payment discounts and avoiding double or overpayment of invoices. A study by research firm Aberdeen found that cost for processing invoices on paper versus with a document management system can vary up to $8 per invoice. Additionally, companies that capture invoices by scanning them early can improve their overall receipt-to-payment schedule time by 5 days over those with paper-based processes.
Infor Document Management for System i also enables users to locate original purchase orders, invoices and related documents faster and easier. Companies facing internal or external audits are able to access all necessary documents at the touch of a button. In addition, prompt consolidation and extended storage of important documents helps companies remain compliant with industry regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley.
Recent research from the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) has shown that 42 percent of organizations doubled their productivity from scanning and capture using a document management system. In addition, AIIM found that 43 percent of companies achieve complete payback for their solution within 12 months, and two-thirds within 18 months.
"Infor continues to demonstrate its commitment to deliver innovative software that reduces total cost of ownership for our more than 15,000 customers running on the IBM System i platform," said Kevin Piotrowski, director of System i solution marketing, Infor. "Since the announcement of our dedicated System i Organization in February, we have delivered numerous innovations such as Infor CRM i Edition, which helps companies increase revenue and customer service, and now Infor Document Management for System i."
Infor Document Management for System i is fully integrated with Infor’s System i-based ERP products including Infor ERP LX, Infor ERP XA, Infor ERP System 21, Infor ERP BPCS, and Infor ERP PRMS. ERP integration means users have access to document management functions such as scan, index and retrieve without leaving their ERP system.
